About Me

My name is Sara and I write fantasy stories and draw my characters when I am not hyperfixating on esotoric and weird topics. Like the hermits hired by Renaissance elites, I aspire to live in an elaborate garden and spout knowledge to curious visitors.

Some long-standing interests:

  • Etruscan and Roman art history
  • Demonology
  • Shin Megami Tensei

Some recent obsessions:

  • Ancient curse tablets
  • Luristan bronzes
  • Greek vases

I plan to share some of my writing, (bad) artwork, favorite media, quotes, and art history tidbits that are just too weird not to share.

Why I Made This Site

It was 2009 and I was browsing the internet, totally without online supervision. My shelves strained under the weight of books about ghosts, mummies, and of course the entirety of Goosebumps. I must have been looking up something about ghosts, when I encountered a mysterious website...

The deep black background flickered with red text and tiny gifs, drawing my eye instantly. Endless tabs promised tales of Bigfoot, Shadow Children, Ghost Encounters, and Spontaneous Combustion. I was terrified, yet also intrigued. This site, long lost to the shifting sands of the internet, reveled in its hand-crafted HTML and CSS pages. A dying part of the internet, no longer visible in Google search results...

I loved finding those strange website, made for a Web 1.0 age. I still find them on occasion, gathering scanned drawings of Roman curse tablets on a professor's site or Etruscan names on the the remnants of a historical roleplay forum. But Web 3.0, that twisted mass of social media, misinformation, hatred, makes these discoveries fewer and fewer.

I want this to be a space for discovery, for people researching weird or random topics to stumble on my site and be like woahhhh. My website may not be citeable, but I hope it makes an impression!
